... room with sun pouring through the windows. Fougeres is a beautiful town - hilly but so pretty with pretty gardens everywhere. We went out for an early evening walk before dinner. As last night we have dinner in the hotel tonight. The dessert we had last night in Combourg was unlike anything I had seen before , just delicious and spectacular . Unfortunately I didn't have a camera for a ubiquitous meal photo. I will be taking my camera ...

... wind chill factor as we raced down the road near the long hill we had ridden up yesterday. Suddenly we were in a beautiful tiny town, bathed in sun but still chilly and adorned with stone cottages and flowering baskets. Yesterday we traded busy roads for quiet roads that wound up and down through villages. Today we were rewarded with about the first 20 kms being mostly on canal tow paths. It's 9am & I'm sitting up in bed listening to the sounds of Dinan out our bedroom window & still pinching myself. "Are we really in France"? I am still loving every minute and even getting used to the crazy way they drive and the fact that pretty much everyone smokes! Even electric cigarettes which I had never seen before but lots here use. Very odd but they seem to like them! This is our 7th day in Dinan and ...

... into the swing of reading the map and that part became easier. However the temperature increased as did the number of very long straight hills to climb up. Some were more difficult because the streets were narrow and the traffic was busy - I elected to push the bike up parts of a couple of hills including the last one which defeated me after 37 kms. The true highlights though were the beautiful villages which we ...

... until we got to the town which after midday closes off the roads to traffic with bollards. Do you think we could find the hotel? Eventually we parked & walked as it was less confusing & frustrating. Gorgeous little 3 star right on the waterfront overlooking the marina. The whole town is just streets of cafes & restaurants plus quite a few designer label shops which we didn't go into! We spent 2 nights & a ...
