... at home so Aimee pulls out and not to mention the entire country of Holland is set up explicitly for bikers with bike paths criss crossing everywhere with barely any need to ride on the roads. Unfortunately at home we don't get that luxury. It was a fun idea while it lasted. ... local farm buildings. Here we had a coffee served by a waiter in traditional dress of knee breeches & short coat over a collared shirt. We then walked through the gardens & back past some lovely small bronze statues, all for sale.

One of the most noticeable features here is the extensive use of bicycles which all look rather old fashioned as they have deep frames & the riders sit up ...

... this area has the highest level of unemployment & many young people leave to look for jobs elsewhere. This means that many local businesses have to close. The lack of supermarkets en route, as well as the fact it was Sunday where everything is closed-we had to resort to having broth soup made with a single stock cube and porridge for dinner!!

All in all we have thoroughly enjoyed our cycle leg through Holland and look forward to new adventures in ...

We went to church at the Old Evangelical Reformed Church in. Uelsen today with the De Vries (Masselink) family and the Kronemeyer family. The pastor delivered the sermon in German, then welcomed the Masselinks from the USA and summarized the sermon for us in English. So cool! It was good to see the Germans avoid the first five rows of the church just like the Americans, the latecomers have to sit up in front. Trying to sing ...
