... to VeenPark, an open air museum based on the life and living conditions of some locals from the Drenthe area working and living in a Peat ... Plantation I guess you would call it. We cruise around on a small train with our hosts out to the peat fields, where the peat was cut, stacked and dried. We hear all about the living and work conditions from a guide although we miss most of it due to the fact it is in Dutch. We get the good bits translated for us by Oma. ...

A coolish overcast day with rain threatening.

Monika took us out to Cloppenburg Museum Village where Peter had a stall to sell his ironmongery. Peter, Monika's partner, makes & sells decorative iron works for the garden ranging from pot stands to small rotundas fabricated from steel bars & tubes. He also makes iron statuary & in Monika’s garden is a metre high dinosaur of his.

... t looking good-but Darren found a very idyllic location on the sea side of the dyke-out of sight. We were treated to a gorgeous sunset across the water.

Next day we saw sheep, sheep & more sheep under a bright blue sunny sky. I could swear I was in New Zealand without the mountains! The livestock provided enormous pleasure for the girls as there were many cute spring lambs with their mothers. There were many attempts to try and pat the lambs-not ...
