... most well-known and most photographed castles in the world. It was an incredible experience to walk through them and overlook the gorge from up in the mountains. We had an absolute top day in Hohenschwangau. We hope you have all enjoyed the history lesson. We found it fascinating though and we wanted to write it down. It was our last day in Germany today. Austria and Switzerland tomorrow. Can’t wait!

Something that I have found fabulous in our travels is this simple but very useful trick.
Like many people I use my iPad on wifi at the hotel overnight but when I am out during the day, I don't connect, because that would require crazy, expensive roaming charges. Well google maps does a pretty good job at working without a connection. It does a fair bit without any help but if you do the following, it works even better
We drove back to Linderhof Palace, the lush digs where King Ludwig lived for around 8 years. What a superb place! Fairly understated compared with some palaces we'd visited but that made it even more enchanting. The rain had now stopped so we spent a good few hours combing the grounds, taking happy snaps and just enjoying the vibe before finally following the same lake journey we'd driven here back to Fussen.
