Thanks to Kenneth we saved about 3 hours by travelling by train and ferry from Zealand to Germany instead of all the way around by train through Jutland. Talking of ferries reminds me that when we were up at Kronburg Castle the ferries cross from there to Sweden every 20 mins and in the fog they have to cross the paths of all the heavy ships using the Oresund Strait to the Baltic ( the East Sea to Scandinavians).

... After a walk around one of the smaller lakes we met up with K&G and all travelled to Gustrow about 1 hr drive. This old town has a Dom, market square and large palace. ... and carved wooden posts and alcoves. There is no English spoken anywhere here and the English writing on the menu so small you almost need a magnifying glass to read it. On Tuesday, we left Hamburg and drove to Malchow, via a medieval town, Schwerin, which had a huge castle. It was the former residence of the dukes and grand dukes of Mecklenburg. It was built in the mid C19, incorporating existing structures from the C16 and C17. There were even foundation remnants going back to 1000AD.
