... minutes of the shops being open.

A drink required saw us find a bar which was a step back in time, proper old German bar with steins. We also made a brilliant purchase of 50% Rat Killer alcohol.

In the corner of the next Hameln bar Lucy found a play area with a toy kitchen and dolls and she declared it had been the best day so far!

... climb the church tower (280 steps) which gave great views over the town and surrounding land. (In Amsterdam you pay €7.50 to climb the Westerkerk church tower!)

All in all a pleasant, picturesque town, with affordable cafes and parking and friendly people, though most visitors were a bit old. Made me feel so young!

After 20 hours of planes, trains, and automobiles, we have arrived safely at our destination and can once again sleep in a horizontal position. We couldn't figure out how to use the GPS system in the Mercedes Benz rental! So grateful we had the iPad to come to the rescue. We are staying at the edge of a lake, and had dinner al fresco.
