We were planning to go to Liechtenstein but thought we may as well as it was sort of on our way. It's the worlds 6 smallest country so it would have been rude not to go..haha.
We didn't drive to the main town but to another.. where really there wasn't anything. I did get a photo with the tourist sign though. Had to somehow prove I'd been there!
We continued on the roadbook without too much of a problem, driving through some really pretty towns and villages. We stopped at a post office, to get stamps, just in case the postcard shops didn't sell them. The change we got in Liechtenstein came in handy here! The route took us into a small town which had a Subaru dealer, so we stopped for a few bingo card photos. As we drove away from there, we saw a ...
Landquart, Switzerland dirtyweekenders... Feldkirch I got lost. Actually I was just trying to get to McDonald's because the group wanted a bathroom break and the public toilets here were not to our standards. Anyway, I drove past the McDonald's twice - once my fault and once the navigator's - and drove down a pedestrian only section of road before we gave up and continued on our journey out of town and deeper into Austria.
Feldkirch, Austrian Alps, Austria travelingdiva... the trail through the forested area, up switchbacks with short stops at lookouts in small clearings to the city below. It didn't take long to reach the castle. It is closed to the public but sits right next to a public road so I walked along the road to get a good look, then continued along the road up a hill a bit further so I could get a nice view.
I navigated my way back down to the city below and checked out some of the shops ...
Liechtenstein started with a quick search of the train station for my cousin, followed by the realization we were at the wrong station at midnight and the trains had stopped running. My cousin Daniel was nice enough to drive an hour and a half round trip to get us anyway. We slept well that night and woke up to breakfast with family and the keys to Daniel's car. We visited the house my mom grew up in, my grand ...
Liechtenstein, Liechtenstein scash... base of towering mountains. A very helpful tourist officer gave us a map and bus timetables so that we could travel up the mountains for the day rather than stay in the capital. We were lucky to have fabulous weather and clear skies to appreciate the mountain scenery and had a picnic lunch in a meadow surrounded by snow covered mountains. The ski season will be underway soon and the ...
Vaduz, Liechtenstein heatheravan... and experienced today. I know I said the same thing about Austria, and it is still true, but this was a whole different level of experience.
After we returned to Davos, we took a short walk and then we had dinner at a very nice little bistro about a block from the hotel. What a nice, quiet way to cap off a wonderful day. It will be an early night tonight. The bags have to be in the hallway by 6:30 am, with breakfast at 6:45 am. We will transfer to Germany (via Austria) tomorrow.
... she accompanied me...). (BevNote: I’m no fool, I know my limits. As a matter of fact, while Paul went on, I sat and reveled in the view from where I was sitting. There were several people riding the updrafts with their 'chutes and it was every enjoyable watching them. A nun came up the mountain as I was watching them …she HAD to be around 90…and SHE didn’t have to stop and rest, just put one foot in front of the other and marched up the mountain… ...
