... unreal, sun is fierce and not a breath of wind. Afternoons on the balcony are the order of the day, listening to all the birds shouting at each other and arguing over bread dropped on the floor at the cafe by the lake.
Only downside is having to wait until 7 till the restaurants open. Not easy for two gluttons like us. Had a rubbish meal first night too which is enough to put us in a bad mood for about a week. Italy almost done. ...

... amazing. They are very starchy, but have a great flavour. We ate so many we actually got, what we called, chestnut cramps; a painful cramp in the stomach resultant of too many chestnuts in too short a period of time. We split into two groups at one point and had a hitchhiking race, which I have to admit, Michael and I failed miserably. For punishment we had to buy Rachel and Steve a three course meal from a grocery store. Might I add, it was pretty ...

          Day 2 - Milano

A travel blog entry by the_wes on Oct 24, 2015

After nearly 24hrs in transit, we arrived in Milano. Everyone was happy to finally arrive in Italy, but then came immigration. I swear we had to wait 30-40mins to get through immigration, one upside of waiting so long, the bags were ready to be picked up. After the large wait in line for immigration, we had to wait again, this time for another person who was flying in from England. Again another 30min plus wait in the bus. By this time my patience ...

... We hit traffic outside the Gotthard Tunnel. Crawled 15km in 1 hour. Slow... And hot. All part of the traffic control to enter the 17km tunnel - our longest so far; by far. Once we whittled down to one lane, we sailed through and crossed the border shortly after into Italy! Lake Como itself is just across the border. We joined the narrow winding road that follows the shoreline for about half an hour before arriving in Lenno where we would be staying. ...

On the bus to Lagura Switzerland, free time for coffee and shopping in the markets. Weather is very cold here. We took the bus to the cable car up the mountain called Monte Tamaro. Beautiful views on the way up of the valley below, snow on the alps here. We had a set lunch menu and a walk around at the top, threw ...
