Gruss
Ralf
Bitola, Macedonia schwateHallo zusammen,

Gruss
Ralf
Ohrid, Macedonia schwateHallo zusammen,

Ohrid, Macedonia schwateI opt to chill out for the day and stay in Ohrid. Pretty, peaceful, good hostel, friendly people … The girls, recovering Celine and I explore the town. The highlights are the tiny, Orthodox churches from a half century ago. Lots of personality, interesting frescoes with a backdrop of the mountains and lake. The views as we ...
Ohrid, Ohrid, Macedonia will.traveller... The staff was excellent. Highly recommended. With 8 guests, it was about 25% full. They take our passports. Hotels are required to submit the names of guests to the police for tracking.

We run into Celine, one of our drinking buddies from Tirana. She has had food poisoning and sleeps for the next 18 hours. I spend the afternoon catching up on my blog (WiFi – yeah!) while enjoying the amazing view.

That night, the hostel sponsors a ...

Ohrid, Macedonia michlac... made 1 phone call and... 15 min later on there came our life saver J . Everywhere where I was asking about the accommodation, I was told there wouldn`t be anything cheaper than 10 Euros per night per person, or they might put the price down if we wanted to stay longer than just 1 night. The man that came after the phone call the shop-assistant made ...
Ohrid, Macedonia bogna... out, had a wine and watched the sunset. Had the whole place to ourselves. Next morning we drove into the town of Ohrid, the spiritual home of orthodox Macedonians. Set right on the lake, cobbled streets lead to quaint old churches overlooking the water, and lovely little cafes. Sent a few emails over a coffee (Macedonia is set to become the world's first completely wi-fi covered country apparently), then drove through the mountains and entered Kosovo.
Ohrid, Macedonia roamingmonk... cobble stone streets to wander. But it didn't really grab me at first. Maybe because it's so similar to Bulgaria, it's not exciting enough. I can communicate easily and all the houses have the same red tiled roofs as in Bulgaria. Later that afternoon I met Al and Ben, the two peace corps volunteers who live in Ohrid. It sounds like they're both doing great work - Al has been key in developing Ohrid's tourism, and Ben is doing cross border work ...
Ohrid, Macedonia mary_zell... so please don't have any worries. After our first night in the Macedonian capital of Skopje, we decided that we would go to a small resort town that one of our travel guides recommended, because it truthfully couldn't get much worse than that first night. When we first got off of the bus after our 5 hour ride, we were a little stunned and very disappointed because we were in the middle of nowhere and it was ...
