... all along the way. Barbara loves the sound of the cowbells as we pass through pastures. I keep telling her "we need more cowbells"! Arriving in Cormayeur, Italy, we finished several days where we stayed only in refuges. the refuges are a curious thing. the meals are usually excellent, but the sleeping arrangements range from private rooms to a row of bunks pushed together. One evening, after dinner, our host played Beatles music on a hand cranked piano. Amazing to be ...

... with only about 3 hours driving..lol Farewell France..again. I can't say I will miss the scenery since leaving 'Chambury'. Majority of the drive had been long roads starting with vast areas of vineyards followed by vast areas of farm land with few dotted villages. I would like to say I'll be back again one day and not just for the arriving in and out of Calais. ... After a hairy ride down the mountain by Vincent, we took alook around the farm and said hi to Melanie's brother who was milking in the four a side fifty year old shed.(about to be replaced).
Milking 60 cows a day seemed so differnent compared to NZ approx herd size of 200 to 400 with some reaching a 1000. (perhaps why our rivers are polluted). We even tried some real milk from the cow. Thanks, Melanie, Vincent, Marc & David for a delightful day.

... calm and just stand or sit around when you go up to them.

Lunch is served and its delicious, I am lucky enough to have the best view from the table straight out the door overlooking the hills and valley below, I could stay here for a few days and just breath in the fresh air and read a book to just be and relax. There is a problem with wolves here and they are protected in France - farmers are not allowed to kill them and the population is getting out of hand ...

... Savioe Region is truly beautiful - home of the Rebluchon cheese and the Montbeliate cow.

I feel alive, I feel alive I sang as pedaling along, the villages had running water that was portable so we could fill our bottles and drink to our hearts content – oh I love this part of France. There are loads of cycle routes all of varying difficulties mainly red or black – meaning fit or athletic!! We had a mixture of the ...
