... had our first
beer at a bar that served the only Moroccan brand, had pizza and went to bed as
the large groups of men all over the place were not giving off the nicest
vibes. Just too much staring, nothing more sinister, but hard to enjoy the
place.
The next morning
we got up and went to check out the train. We wanted to get to Fez but had seen
enough of Myknes which was supposed to be very similar. We were looking forward
to stopping a while on the coast in ...
... and clubbing music. You could win all the same stuffed animals, hear the noises of games being played....THEY EVEN HAD MINI DONUTS! So, i took advantage of that. Chris and Kev both bought a dozen and shared some with me for my bday present. We got to enjoy fireworks...for my bday :)
Then, it was time to club. There were rows and rows of tents setup...just like you would see at the PNE with different names on them...¨La Alternativa...We ended up going into a tent that had ...
... Dino decided that we should try the next one. Oh but of coarse that was looked. And so it went on again, after trying to run the length of the train we finally got on. And for the first time since being in Morocco the train left on time. we ended up standing outside a toilet for most of the train ride as we couldn't fit down the isles with our bags and all the carriages we could be ***** looking through where too full. Ah another peaceful journey. When arriving ...
Tarifa, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands dinoshona... paintings covered the walls. Outside, there were wonderful views down to the coast. Driving further we came to Mijas, a small town of white houses high on a hill, rather like Mojacar. There was a pleasant walk round the old walls amid gardens, again with lovely views of the coast. Our main expedition in this area was to the picturesque old town of Ronda. The drive up the steep, winding road revealed distant ...
Tarifa, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands oldagetraveller... and catch a ferry to Tangier. I completely forgot to mention that we found a card reader in Portugal, so we are now able to download our photos. Rather than try and catch up on the blog, I'm going to put the old ones on facebook and as we take new ones I'll include them in the blog. Although, I'm going to have to find an open connection to do the old ones, which, if Lonely Planet are to be believed, is not easy in Morocco ...
Tarifa, Spain and Canary Islands 50oddDay three at the campsite by the dunes in southern Spain. The relaxing time is stretching beyond my plans, also because we couldn't find a flight from Jerez de la Frontera to Palma de Mallorca for Claire before the 29th...but it's all good, as I think I still need some quite time to prepare my solo trip to Morocco at the end of the week. I was on the beach the other night with my other two traveling companions, Ale the dancer and his ...
Tarifa, Spain and Canary Islands dani.boraAFRICA... not quite what I had expected and way too short of a trip to get a feel for Morocco but still touched African soil. There were about 20 of us that ventured across the sea to Tanger. The ferry ride was only about 45 minutes. It's strange that Africa was so close. We were a part of an arranged tour on the other side and a man in robes met us with a bus and we heading for a tour around ...
Tangier, Morocco dfurler... the coastline. The pounding of the ocean causes unique pocks/tidal pools. Deep in the cave we open up to a large series of rooms and see the natural rock formation in shape of Africa carved by the sea. Some divers are dangerously leaping off of ledges inside the cave to a very small pool 30 ft below. The girls dip their hands in a well with legend it brings good luck. We are shown centuries-old carvings/cutting mined from the cave for ...
Tangier, Morocco mauro08... have to go back towards where he was at..We were kinda freaking because he did pull a real Jeckle and Hyde on us and we figured he would still be around and demand more from us.. Luckily we were able to sneak past where he had left us and made our way back after some time to the same man who helped us before so we ate dinner at his restaurant. My first real meal in Morocco was couscous poulet (chicken). YUMMY!! It was a nice ending to a frantic day!
Tangier, Morocco hlautieWe left Chefchauen and arrived into Tangier where we mistakenly forgot about the time difference that forced us to stay in this uneventful and seedy town. To make things even more uninteresting they were in the midst of refurbishing the town square which kicked up a lot of dust. Trying to forget our last image of Morocco we prepared for our ridiculously early start the next day and slept peacefully to the help of the soothing calls to prayer from the mosque's minaret.
