      Last day in Sirmione

Today we went to Villa Di Catullo, which is an ancient castle left in ruins after many years. Apparently you are not allowed to stand any of the rocks, we found out when the boys were posing on a rock for a photo and we suddenly heard a woman madly blowing her whistle from 100m away yelling at them to get down! We had a coffee and ice-cream (kids have had more ice cream in Italy than they have had all year!) and then a look through the shops on the ...

... on the Mammut roller coaster and even though Brodie had his head down the whole time he made Paul go on it with him again. When we had 45 minutes till the park closed we split up, Luca and I went to one of the kiddie areas where we went on the merry go round, min ferris wheel, into the magic treehouse and on a train ride. The other boys went and did a few more of the water rides. It definitely worked out well getting the express passes, even though they were not ...

... When it turned up, it was a nearly new catamaran
almost as quick as the fast cat from the day before. Arriving back
in Sirmione, the weather soon began to brighten up and it turned into
a lovely day again. We took our time looking in the shops and
stopping for a couple of beers in a tiny bar. Jayne bought me a
magnificent Fossil watch in one of the shops. We walked from one end
of the town and back again, taking in ...

      Boat Trips on Lake Garda

      ... scenery
passing by, steep sided rocky tree covered hills as the lake tapered
even more. Half an hour later, we arrived at our final port – Riva
del Garda. This town was substantially bigger but only marginally
less pretty as a result. It was the first that we had visited with a
proper marina, full of sizeable yachts. The water was freezing,
being fed from a tributary lake higher up in the mountains to the
west. Having seen as much as we wished, we sat near ...

... remainder of the coast road offered greater views
although the scenery became less dramatic.

      Next stop was Lake
Iseo, a small cousin with a very different atmosphere again. A quiet
backwater seemingly only known to the locals. This was a place
where you could really relax away from the crowds. You could
almost see the entire lake from our position, which took some of the
mystery away perhaps but did not detract from the spectacle. ...
