... had thought we would be touring facilities - but nope, traditional Italian lunch it is. Lukka was very friendly and knowledgeable about both Italy and the AC Milan techniques that interest Conor so much. For lunch we had pumpkin raviolli with hazelnuts and some meat with polenta (I ate as many bites of meat as I felt was necessary to not seem rude...it tasted like I remember meat, but wasn't that exciting). Museum at Academia for a bit of culture- lots of painting of last supper that were rescued(?) from churches in town. Some really old 14c stuff and some more recent restored items. Amazing brushwork and huge alter pieces some with bible stories that were new to me. Spent arvo wandering lanes and canals. Pizza at same restaurant. ...

... annual passes etc. It all seems flat so probably a good idea. I'm so cocky on the way home that I get off at a different stop just to see the neighbourhood (also half hoping for a pizzeria nearby). Get back to the apartment and decide to cook, the novelty, so a real NZ salad and ham and mushroom tagliatelle for dinner! I'm sure the novelty will wear off. 191 different consulates/embassies here, you can see how cosmopolitan it ...

... seems to be something I'm good at no matter where I am. Even if it is at the totally wrong time of day.

I haven't really had much of a chance to mess with the pictures I had taken in Pompeii but I will soon. I'm glad I was able to go back and see the effort they are putting in to help ensure that the site is available for visitors for years to come. I'm a huge proponent of preserving art and culture for future generations and it was nice ...
