Enjoy the natural beauty of the Swiss Alps with our free day in picturesque Zermatt. We will experience the Klein Matterhorn where the views across the mountain peaks are spectacular. Thank heavens we did not have an early start as Phil has been has been sick since early this morning, so Barbara and Karen went with our travelling companions to the Matterhorn. We travelled on two gondolas to get to the top of the mountain. The first gondola held a maximum of six people, ...

This morning we visit the picturesque Chillon Castle immortalised by Lord Byron's 'Prisoner Of Chillon'. We continue our journey to Zermatt, which is inaccessible by coach, ascend to our hotel by electric mini-buses and taxis. Late sleep in, thank heavens, beautiful breakfast then off to Chillon Castle. Wow what a sight it was lovely. The things that we really liked about this castle was that you were and could explore nearly ...

We arrived in the alpine town of Tasch after passing Saint Bernard, unfortunately we missed the turn of as we would of liked to see the St Bernard museum and pick up a barrel. Tasch is as far as cars can go, beyond here access to Zermatt, the village at the foot of the Matterhorn is via ...

Thursday 16th - got up early before 6 to be ready for our 8 hours of trains to Switzerland. Unfortunately to Shawn's dismay we didn't get to go on a ICE train (intercontinental express) - the Deutche Bahn high speed train. Settled for a EC (euro city) from Munich Hbf to Zurich, followed by a IC (Intercity) to Visp in Switzerland (after passing thru Austria briefly) and then a regional train on the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn to Zermatt which is a cog rail ...

Woke up to the sound of church bells ringing. Sat on the balcony, the Matterhorn in sight, eating a roll with butter. Met Bob and Alice at the train station. Walked through Zermatt along the Bahnnhofstraße. We saw a family The view of herding goats through the main street. These farmers were dressed up in what looked like traditional clothes. We eventually got to the gondola at the end of town and transferred a few times to get to the Zermatt ...
