John started the day with a sketch at last - very little chance up till now. After lovely breakfast outside in the sun, we spent time with the Carles looking at the vegie garden, adjoining river and being shown lots of antiquity - the old nearby inn, old wood oven, stables and sheds with loads of old goodies. ... the church, a tenth century crypt [into which of course we crept] and the old abbey which was fairly grand in the tenth century as well. Well restored it is a marvel to see.

Wonderful flowery quiet and peaceful campsite by a lake. It had a great playground and pool with jacuzzi, and I think we were all very happy with the campsite. Small villages around. ... may have done something very bad to it but I did make it down the hill. There was a street market and I managed to hobble over there for a bit as well but came back to the rendezvous point to sit and wait for the gang. ... hugging the rock face with spectacular views. I was glad I was driving! It was that spectacular at the highest view point pull off we found a Super U lorry driver who had passed us earlier taking pictures on his iPhone!
