... out everything about the area. Well done Neville - despite your technical problems you delivered a very interesting, insightful presentation. It's now Sunday and we drove to Cumbria to see my Cousin Laura and Family. An interesting tour of the region by Dominic and a delightful pub lunch. My "tourist" highlight was going to Alnwich Castle (Northumberland). Harry Potter movie 1 and 2 were partly filmed here. What an outstanding ...

... and mountain tops through the clouds. Desperately take photos even though surely rubbish. At the top is cloud and some sort of hillside zoo for deer, goats and nervous marmots. Had to leave quickly due to sunset and closing time. Not the best day but cool to be somewhere different.

          2) Spectacular weather forecast for about 4 hours. GET UP and zoom to 'Aiguille du Midi' - mountain 3,888m up (half ...

... local food (and some from Northern Italy) is offered regardless of the weather. It’s raucous and loud, with plenty of meats, cheeses, fruits and vegetables offered according to the season and the prevailing harvest.Unfortunately food seldom lasts a week (for some reason French carrots only last a few days) and come Monday I find myself obliged to return to see the lovely ladies behind the Fromager counter in Les Houches and linger some more before their ...

... School. All of this was uncovered today!

We then up to Lac des Chavants to picnic (Les Houches). We finally bought James a scooter and tried it out by searching for the perfect local French "pub" in town. We didn't quite get the feel we were looking for but found a place filled with mountain climbing guides. This place is fantastic ! ...
