Today was the final day of our tour, but sadly we could not hike due to pouring rain. Luckily we are at a nice hotel in an actual town (Charmonix) which is a good place for a day off. We've all been relaxing Ryan on his phone and I spending an enjoyable day reading on the kobo. Mom and dad have just been walking around. That ...

... by a challenge we headed up to the glacier. It took about an hour and at the Chalet, we stopped and had lunch - great salad made fresh from the owners garden with goat cheese from the town we had just left. Delicious! This route was shorter and only involved a climb of 2500 feet, basically following a trail around the side of the mountain. It was very humid and it felt like one was walking through a rain forest, with tall trees, ferns and lots of green ground coverage. There were a number of switchbacks as we came to the tiny hamlet of Bovine, which is really ...

... drop beneath was of course massive, the height didn't worry me as I was more worried about my breathing. It was of course bitterly cold, with still considerable snow on the peak. The first part took us to a platform, we then swapped gondolas and went to the full height where we then stepped into the void which was a glass platform overhanging the glaciers below! Oh my gosh you could see thousands of metres below, well ...
