... Mikey and Jo. We were staying in a town called La Teste de Buch in the Arcachon Bay, which opens up onto the Atlantic Ocean. After a few days relaxing and eating a vast amount of baguettes and cheese, we decided to hire some canoes and take to the rivers nearby. We arranged the hire and along with some random Spaniards were taken by the canoe company to a launching spot about 10km from the Arcachon Bay and handed our canoes along with sketchy directions on where to go so we didn't ...

An exciting stay at Steve's sofa-surfing shack

... not somewhere I’d want to spend more than a day but it has its attraction - a very old town, the centre still retains many medieval wooden houses, jutting out over cobbled streets. Additionally there’s a beautiful cathedral (1 of the 17 I’ve seen just in Europe), a few other pretty old buildings and an artisan’s district which still contains the shops of several luthiers (whom I stood and watched working on lutes and violins), so I was ...

... is this noun masculine or feminine?)

  • During the three months I was able to make a few side trips to Lacanau, Toulouse, Sarlat, St Emillion and PARIS (again) for my birthday. Much cheese, wine, pastries and cakes were consumed - feeling jealous?! Do not despair....for anyone thatīs interested, thereīs an open invitation to my friends and family who visit Bordeaux to stay with the Larrieu family. Thatīs a gift from me to you ;)

On our way we stopped at a wine/cognac shop which was interesting but without knowledge of wine, we did not know what to buy! We bought a cake. We arrived at our BB Hotel and checked in about 4.00 pm and had a late lunch/early dinner in a steak place. Corry had sirloin and I had roast chicken. Before that ...

    Where All The Grapes Grow

... teau Soutard. It was quite a pretty château, but not like your picturesque ones with the spires and castle looking stuff, just a nice old building among the grape vines. We learnt a little bit about how they classify the wines in the Saint-Émilion region, and at this château they have the classification of Grand Cru Classé, which is third from the top (if I remember right!). We got a guided tour of the château and learnt about how the wine ...
