... colours of the trees and the brilliant green of the grass was amazing.

E failed to get any lunch as we discovered that 11:11 is a bank holiday in France and everywhere was closed! So we arrived at the hotel at 5:00 pm and were starving! We checked in and the owner kindly provided us with pate and bread and a glass of red....perfect!

The jet lag is kicking in and we didn't get a perfect night's sleep, but we're in Annecy so how bad can it ever get?!

We took a cruise on Lac Annecy today and it was stunning. The water is crystal clear and the Alps surrounding the lake give it an almost contrived look of beauty. The sky was clear blue and the sun was bright. What more could you ask for.

... was, so we had a gentle sail to St Denis on Ile d'Oleron and arrived mid afternoon. We got the famous Sweber out and David dived under to look at the prop, it was caked in barnacles and calcification. So after 20 plus minutes of David scraping and wire brushing and me pumping air into him through the sweber he surfaced with cuts to hands and arms but a clean prop. The engine revved correctly, a big relief.We decided the next day we would sail ...

We met a nice policeman just before Chorges who told us it was an hour to Savines le lac, where we intended to watch the time trial. Things didn't quite go according to plan and we missed a turnoff.
