... de Boigne who made a fortune in the East Indies (no idea how he made this fortune!) and then spent a lot of it on the town. Each of the elephants looks real, and you get the feeling that real elephants are strolling out of arches into the middle of the street! Apparently the fountain is known by the locals colloquially as Les Quatre Sans Culs 'the four without *****' (translation into English by some stranger)! ... parking spot (just a small city), so headed back to the lake.
The eastern side of the lake was even better. The town of Aix Les Bains is right on the lake, with a nice small town, and walks right along the lake - very pretty, Had a look around here for a while. Ifwe were coming back, i would definitely head to this town to stay, Nice location, great restaurants, and lots to do ...

Left Paris yesterday, and caught the train to Chambery.
The trip is very easy - once you have travelledby train once, it is very easy to do in France.

Not to be deterred by the rain or the heavy traffic we headed on to Evian. It is right on the lakes edge and we enjoyed a stroll through the old village before heading home to pack.

... yeah. We made the decision to try to fond a spot for the Tour and got onto the course just before the Road closed at Valbonnais. It was so fantastic!! We wandered and talked to people and then the caravan came through. It has 180 vehicles which consist of floats, sponsors cars, police and official cars and motorbikes. Best thing though was the excitement of the things they threw out...caps, Blow up pillows, stubbie holders, ...
