Day two of our orientation trip consisted of going to a vineyard for some wine tasting at Vini Marino Wine farm and then heading to a buffalo farm, Caseificio Vannulo Mozzarella di Bufala , where we sampled some fresh mozzarella made with buffalo milk. The wine was good, with the farm on the side of a ...

Lazy stroll today around to the old Roman port of Formia.

Again, testament to the building skills of the Romans, the port still remains today and would have been a lovely spot to head out for your fishing trips. It is now in a protected zone but as with most of Italy's ancient remains, is fully accessible to all.

The port is on a walk that loops around the headland and also goes up to an old water storage tank, again in a good state of preservation with views out to sea.

On Monday Jane and Mark took the train into Rome for a tour of the main sights and lunch, while we enjoyed the sunshine on our roof terrace. We spent our final evening together playing cards... Mark taught us "Spelt".

Drop off back at the airport on Tuesday and was great to see them both and have some English conversation - funny how much you miss it.

... half of the hives in search of a tasty meal a la Winnie the Pooh.  The bees were understandably still distraught, but the beekeeper was still able to calm them enough with the smoker in order to show us the honeycombs.  Next up, we learned how they process the honey to sell.  The best part was the taste test that came last!  I walked away with 7 jars of honey (okay, well, 4 were for friends at work). Loading back on the bus, we headed to our ...
