... abandoned village. Apparently several villages were cleared in the 50's and 60's to build a dam, but this never happened. Gradually protesters and 'new rurals' have started moving into some of the houses as a protest. We could see that at least one of the houses in this village was occupied.

... north as far as the eye can see. We walked for another 40 minutes or so along a ridge to Planell (2236m) for 360 degree views of the mountains along with the Sant Maurici lake. Words do little to capture how stunning the view was. We stopped for lunch and John spotted a chamois below us.

We passed the shepherd and his sheep again today.

The walk back down to the campsite took no time at all and we enjoyed an hour of sitting in the sun.

As we set off the rain stopped but it was still quite chilly. The river flows past the campsite and through the town. Swollen with snow melt it is one of the fastest flowing rivers we have seen.

... queue on a rondpoint to Ikea and HyperU and missed out turning to Foix and ended up on the free Motorway to Tarbes!!! We managed to cut back across later, passing through some pretty villages.
