Two hours in Andorra and sore feet

... be a separate country. The bad news is I still don’t know anything about it. I went there alright but after 2 hours of traffic madness in 34 degree heat and finding absolutely nowhere to park the van my stress levels were near critical so I gave up and drove back out. They actually have border crossings too which is the first time I’ve encountered that on this trip. I managed to try and drive off before I should have coming back into Spain which resulted ...

... track levelled out and we walked on and into a tiny village with a church and a few houses. Why it was there, or who used it was hard to determine as there was harly a soul in sight and no shops. However it was quite pretty and we visited the church, made friends with a few stray dogs (one looked just like Terry the Terrior) and started back down. Going down wasn't much better and our knees were soon quite sore from all the jarring ...

We departed Les around 8:45, with the riders breaking into the regular groups, so once again Lori, Peter and I cycled together, bumping into Dave,Linda and Tom a couple of times. The first 12 Kms were downhill, which while a delightful way to ride, meant that we were going to have to recover that height at some point. The sign at the bottom said that it was a 9% average grade, but those with computers advise that a good part of it was well over ten. We then ...

DAY 8/June 21: Les, Spain to Oust

A travel blog entry by timsparling on Jun 21, 2015

... the final climb of the day to Col de la Core.

Long at 14 km but again not terribly steep, we plugged away in the hot afternoon sun to the top. We passed Tim then Lori then Peter on the lower part. I reached the top with Linda, where we ran into Michael, Wayne & Mesfin who were just about to start their descent. And then we waited for Dave. He doesn't do as well in the heat as we do--he often takes off his helmet for these ...
