    ... br> I have also had a less pleasant encounter with wild life and this time it was ticks, but not on Treacle - on me! Over the last few days I have removed 6 tiny ticks from my legs, I thought I would be appalled but actually I was quite calm and my overriding thought was just to remove them.     ... far for their holidays! Time for rest, rehydrate and refreshment. Another very adequate dinner and we're ready for a recovery sleep. It all happens again tomorrow. The weather is forecast to be quite a bit cooler, 24degrees and we're only riding 55kms. We are staying at the same hotel on Wednesday and Thursday nights and there's a strong rumour of massages being available as well as a pool. I'll be very disappointed if this turns out not to be ...

    ... we have seen so far, is quite different. The houses are very well kept, the gardens are lush and full of flowers, as are roadside verges and public spaces. We're out for dinner tonight too. The group has a booking on a restaurant boat moored in the river port tonight. We have a big ride planned for tomorrow, 65kms or thereabouts and the day is forecast to be 31degrees. I hope the bits that are sore tonight are less sore tomorrow ...

    ... br> It was a major submarine base during WW2 built by the Germans, in the an enormous and imposing concrete bunker.



    Opposite the bunker was a fairly new cinema - so that worked out well....
