... and doing a bit of half-hearted bird-watching although there didn't seem to be much about and then it was back to Valls which was much quieter than it had been a day earlier. We had a good dinner at the Konig II bar not far from the CJXV local and then went for a couple of beers in Bar Bruch where the barman was kind enough to show us a photo from the previous day's exploits in the local newspaper, in which you could clearly see the back of my head.

By this time we had met up with most of the Brits again and although it was late, plenty of us were hungry so we went to a recommended kebab place and sat out in the mild evening air enjoying our meals and telling tall tales. Brad's story of his misunderstanding of the meaning of the word "Arriba" on a previous visit to Spain had us in stitches and if you ever meet him you should ask him to tell it.

... we started off. I think we need better info, though. We were close to the Salinas and it is possible that at this time of year they are dry, but we didn't really see much water and not that many birds either.

Overall birds were harder to find than they had been in spring and early summer, especially the smaller ones and yet again we failed to find any Calandra Larks. We did better with raptors though adding buzzards, two harrier species a ...

Upon arrival at Reus airport we went to pick up our rental car from Goldcar. I much prefer the full/full fuel option rather than the increasingly prevalent full/empty because the amount added for the fuel is usually well over (about 1/3) the market price and it is almost impossible to return a rental car on empty. Who wants to take the chance of running out 5 kms ...
