Historical Traveler Reviews of Hotel La Jabotte Antibes

"Died and Gone To Heaven"

from GOLF19
We have just returned from three days in Antibes,

staying at the Hotel La Jabotte. We have an expression we use if we find a place that stands out from the ordinary, "Died and Gone To Heaven".

La Jabotte certainly comes into this category.

Everything was exceptional right from the Hosts themselves, location, bedroom, breakfast room, and the lovely little courtyard outside.

Well worth a visit if you are ever in this area.

A place of paradise...

La Jabotte is really a place of paradise! The atmosphere is warm and serene. The rooms individually decorated are ravishing. The breakfast is quite delightful: home made jams, cakes, cheese and each day a home made pastry! Yves and Claude, the owners, are welcoming and much contribute to the warm ambiance of this place. They are friendly, showing a lot of interest for the people coming there. The location is perfect, only 50 m from the beach and also close to the old Antibes centre. It is really a nice place to go, we have been there 4 times and will return without any doubt.

Charm and refinement for a romantic stay

La Jabotte is one of those places you leave, saying :we will come back. And we did ! It is our third stay now and still we left with the same impression.

It is a hotel with the charm and atmosphere of a bed and breakfast. Each room is decorated in a dedicated style with a lot of taste and refinement.

It is very quiet, although very near the beach. The owners, Yves and Claude, also contribute to this nice atmosphere, making you really feel unique : they even remembered that I drink tea at breakfast !

Breakfast, also a very nice moment, in the garden or outside, it is always gorgeous : bread, rolls, cheese, yoghurt and... home made fresh sweet pastry, different every day.

For us, it is always a true romantic stay ! Defenitely, we will come back !

Great Alternative to the Typical Hotel

I stayed at La Jabotte for 3 nights and thought it was great. The owners were very accomodating and helpful, if asked, but also unintrusive if you wanted to be left alone. Everything is decorated beautifully and the little gravel courtyard is a very relaxed place to read the communal daily paper and meet some of the other guests if you want to. I think one of my favorite things was the afternoon/evening cocktail. It was a different fun & fruity drink with different well-paired little nibbles every day. The place was about a block from the beach and within walking distance of restaurants and the old section of town. My only half complaint, which is my own fault, is that I got a room with only a shower and the toilet was outside of the room. I misunderstood the owner when I booked the room, and assumed that if I had a shower, I also had a toilet, but the plus side is that that room has a nice big window and apparently got more air than most of the other rooms. I think I was the only one using the washroom, so it wsn't so bad...so give and take. I would definitley go back again.

Hidden paradise right near the beach

I have just left La Jabotte in Antibes which has the most serene yet fun ambiance. The rooms are all decorated individually and beautifully and the garden where we have our breakfast is enchanting and full of beautiful flowers. Breakfast times are relaxed so a feeling of being on holiday. The "Petit Dejeuner" consists of home made jams, cakes and cheeses, all which varie in composition daily. Each day is a new surprise. The owners Yves and Claude speak very good English, and I have never met such accommodating hosts - nothing is too much trouble. Even a guest who was bady sunburnt who could not move far, the hosts cooked them dinner with no charge (remember this is a B & B). They are so kind and courteous. The hotel is situated 50 metres from the beach, and all beach equipement is for free use. Wonderful cocktails are served every afternoon. All nationalities come here - which makes it a wonderful meeting ground enriching the holiday. I have stayed here numerous times, finding it great value for money, and for me its a hidden paradise, quiet, fun, yet so close to the town which is lively.

Loved La Jabotte

My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful stay in La Jabotte in Antibes and I find it hard to understand the negative reviews on this site. The place was completely charming. The rooms are set around a flower-filled courtyard and, although not huge, are decent sized by European standards and very tastefully decorated. The breakfast was also a real treat, certainly one of the best I've had in a European hotel, with home-made jams and cheeses which varied every day. I found the owners to be most friendly and discreet, showing an interest in all their guests without being intrusive. The location was also excellent, a minute's walk from a sandy beach and a short walk to Old Antibes centre yet in the exclusive area of the Cap d'Antibes. Highly recommended.

Looked cute but ruined by poor service

from addicted2traveling
I have recently returned from an amazing holiday that took me to the Italian and French Riviera. Everything was wonderful except my stay at Hotel Jabotte. When I found the hotel on-line I thought I was in for a treat. It was just what I was looking for: a cute family run hotel. But when I arrived the stay was quickly spoiled by the poor attitudes of the owners. Wish I had seen the reviews on-line before I left because I'm finding my experience was similar. .

From the beginning I was made to feel that asking for "anything" from the owners was a big inconvenience. Even asking for information about the area bothered them. Responses were short, unfriendly and released in a deep sigh as though I had just ruined their day.

Bring an alarm clock because calling for a wake up call is also frowned upon.

The rooms are colorfully decorated. Decent size for Europe..but very dark and a little musty.

The breakfasts aren't much but they were decent considering breakfast isn't a big thing in Europe - but don't ask for more coffee or an extra croissant - or they'll look at you sideways.

The best part of the stay was the dog. He was also the only friendly one.

Read the owner's response

Owners always "slightly annoyed" attitudes tainted the place.

from lisjanemon
Owners unpleasant to deal with on a daily basis. Did not allow outside food or drink. Required us to unlock and lock the outside gate every time we arrived or left the place even during the day. Served less than a cup of orange juice at breakfast and waited for them to come back to see if anyone wanted more and never did, next day I automatically asked for a second glass of orange juice as I do not drink coffee and response was, "Not now, as I'm very busy." Adorable dog, Tommy visited our room one day as we had our door open to get some light (rooms are fairly dark with 1 sm. window) and one of the owners comes over and sees that he's in there and acts annoyed as if it's our fault he came in there! Checking out, one of the owners thanks the guests ahead of us and gives them a "petit souvenir" of their stay with them and is pleasant and then when we checked out he was short and did not give us a "petit souvenir" of our stay. Cute place but not worth the attitude.

Gorgeous little room on the beach

from transparentgem
Found this place in a Times review of budget hotels in the south of france. its down a little lane from the beach, and is the most sweet little house. all the rooms are set around a courtyard and in the morning, they bring your continental breakfast to just outside your door. no bath or tv in our room, but clean and new. about 15 min walk to the town with all its restaurants etc. highly reccommened if on a budget but want clean, nice and trendy place to stay near the beach. two owners are guys with a fluffy dog!
