... dunes in France. Dune du Pilat. It was like driving into a little bit of Shangri-La after Bordeaux. We are in a camp ground under big old pine trees looking out over the Atlantic Ocean and para gliders everywhere were swooping back and forth catching the thermal uplifts. There were up to a hundred para gliders, some just learners having a hard time of it and others passing just over our heads and sailing up high over the sea. It was fun to ...

... afternoon thundershowers - and indeed the hotelier told us it had poured just prior to our arrival - the skies cleared as we neared our destination, and those who wished to could enjoy a sunny afternoon at the beach.
We had dodged our first weather bullet, but certainly were not out of the woods yet, as thunderstorms continue to circulate in the area. Meanwhile, our accommodations ensure togetherness. ...

... to the U Bar as we did last year. AirTransat wants us to check in early with our bikes to avoid inconveniencing the other passengers and that's fine but then that results in a long wait until departure.

On board the large A330 with Mefin joining us in our row, we were off on time. AirTransat's in-flight service is definitely a cut above typical North American airlines. "Gone Girl" was available on the entertainment system, so I watched it. ...
