Never heard of San Marino worth yet another drive

... heard of San Marino but as Sue mentioned it is an independent state named after a Christian stonemason Marinus from around 300 when he hid in the mountain peaks to avoid persecution by the Romans and started a community there. It must have been a case of too small a fish to worry about as today, the mountain state exists as the 5th smallest country in the world. The buildings and scenery were breathtaking. Well worth the long bus ride to get there

A little time to relax in Rimini

... we were glad when we arrived in Rimini.

It rained the first few days we were here, but the past 2 days of sunshine have made up for it! Our hostel has great rooms but a really awful atmosphere, so we were so glad when the sun came out and we could spend all day at the beach, or in the town. Relaxing in the sun is just what we've needed! I'm still embarrassingly white though. I'd even call it offensively white. It's going to take more than 2 days of sun to bring me even to human ...

What a pleasant surprise Rimini was...

... front. The beach is broken into sections each section has a restaurant, sporting stuff (basketball hoops, Volleyball, Gyms, etc.) lounge chairs and umbrellas. Some even have an outdoor gym. The beach is actually sand, which is a novelty for Italy. We picked up some of the free bikes from the hotel and rode all around the city. I stopped and had a quick swim, Outside of the fact both of our asses were completely numb and bruised afterwards (not the best bikes ...

THE SUPER BOWL

... had neglected to retrieve the kicking tee from the field after the opening kickoff.

Lazio’s quarterback played a couple years in Bolzano and has played in various places around Europe for at least 6 years. He runs pretty well, prefers to scramble himself or run around until someone comes wide open. He isn’t a great passer though, which is good because we don’t stop the pass well. Additionally, nobody in Italy has been able to run the ball ...

Rossi Fans 'R' us and classic italian BIKE museum

... as the bikes were not fully restored and were housed in a 2 level building on what seemed to be this mans home land. The smell of oil covered the place and we saw some very old bikes including Guzzis. Wayne loved it as the bikes were in original conditions , cleaned but not restored. While we there someone turned up and the man turned him away saying the museum was closed and when he saw us the man said we had a special entry because we were from ...

Gonzaga in Rome

... the Coliseum, Roman Forum, and walked near Piazza Venezia, and then headed over to Trastevere where I showed her my humble little University. We then decided that we were tired, came back to siesta, and then met up with GU kids again for dinner. After dinner, we were all exhausted from walking all weekend, we went out to a little bar where we just sat and talked. I got to see a bunch more GU kids, which was a lot of fun, and then Kerry and I ...

Florence and Perugia

... we headed back up the hill to meet up with everyone else who was also staying at the campsite. When we got back to the campsite, we were incredibly tired, so made it an early night. I slept really soundly, I liked being in a tent, surrounded by trees, and it was fun to wake-up to a squirrel running about on top of our tent. The extra blanket was much appreciated...and the only remains that I had from the night outside were 2 mosquito bites on my ...
