New Year's Eve didn't turn out quite the way I expected it to. I didn't anticipate it being so hard being parted from my family again. I think what made it worse was the fact that I waved them off at the airport then I had to return to an empty flat. It was so quiet. I didn't want to do anything but I couldn't stand just sitting there.

Having visitors means I had the excuse to eat yummy Spanish food that I wouldn't normally buy. I introduced the family to churros con chocolate. A churro is a fried-dough pastry dusted in sugar. ... prawns and octopus and chicken and fish... I was in the big supermarket today and saw a shrink-wrapped piglet, which scared me a little. Still had it's snout and everything.
