Ultimately I made it, absolutely shagged, but I was still standing unlike a stack of others who were on the roadside collapsed.
I met up with Chris at the finish, he didn;'t make the time cut on Glandon and was ferried back to the finish by bus....not happy.
So that's the Etape for another year....not so sure about doing this again. This experience was enough.

Chris and I lamented last years event over a pasta lunch in one of the restaurants at the top. Pretty good tagliatelle carbonara they served up to us.
After an afternoon's TV watching the TdF stage....and a few reds, I headed off for the 25km drive up the valley to my hotel at Valmeinier.
