    ... I met some good people who made my time more enjoyable. If you want to visit the calanques, Marseille can be done as a day trip. Your time and money would be better spent visiting other cities in the south of France.

    One of the highlights of the trip so far was our morning ballooning with Chris and Claire from "Ballooning in Tuscany". We had an early start (5am) to be down at the launch field for 5.40am and then we took off at about 6.30-6.45am on a beautifully sunny morning with fantastic views over the Tuscan countryside - the pictures hopefully do it more justice than any description I can ...

    ... bit of sunburn on my shoulders which I didn't even notice until later, so it was okay. The tombs were in the middle of vineyards, on a hilltop with a beautiful view. We could only go into the main tomb--the one that we saw a reconstruction of--in groups of seven and eight, so that the humidity in the tomb would stay at the proper level for the preservation of the frescoes.     ... the piazza in front of the massive Cathedral with its ornate facade. A gentleman in the town hall across from it struck up a conversation with us and said it took 12 generations of builders to complete the structure. The town had a nice semi urban vibe to it and I noticed it is on the main train line between Florence and Rome. Easy to revisit without a car. :-)
