Hotel La Era Málaga

After days at sea we had a short stop in Malaga before docking the next day back in Savona. I have decided that I am not crazy about the days at sea. Even though I really enjoyed all the ports, I don't think I would do anther big curise. The fact that there were only small number of people who spoke enlgish on the ship was interesting. So wanted to speak another language .. any lanaugage. Even when I told the Germans I did nto speak Germann they kept talking!

A big monkey pick-pocketed a full packet of peanut M&Ms out of a lady´s pocket and chowed down the whole lot in a matter of seconds. And then didn´t even put the wrapper in the bin! I mean, really! Anyway, I was totally smitten when a little baby ...

Today was Thanksgiving back in the US, or as the Spaniards call it, Accion de Gracias. First of all, I would like to say that I am impressed by how much the Spaniards know about the United States. I called home and I told my mom that the Spaniards know about Thanksgiving and my mom was surprised that they know about it, and also how she doesn't know of any Spanish holidays. I've lived here for over two months and I still barely know ...

Malaga is the major city near Frigiliana (where the train dropped us off). We spent a day there when we picked up Jaime and Rob at the train station. Some highlights:

A couple of days ago I was talking with a friend of mine who is from England but is living in Malaga now. He told me that one time in a restaurant the waiter asked how the meal was and he told the waiter that it wasn't that good. He told me that normally the British will just sit there with an unhappy look on their face and never say anything. He got the meal for free. Cette région de l'Espagne est très montagneuse, je savoure chaque montée dans l'autocar ;-) le paysage est sec, rocailleux, des petites maisons blanches sont éparpillées.. tout semble paisible ici... j'en viens preque à regretter de ne pas pédaler ...

I actually love this open establishing of contact, but I dislike everytime having to say I don´t speak Spanish that well and not understanding what the **** they´re saying to me. I can say ´No gracias´ when a strange woman also waiting for a bus offers me a caramelo and I can confirm it is bus 15 standing there when someone asks, but stories out of the blue, no. And I´d rather give the impression I am Spanish ...

....et bien c'est avec peine que je quitte Cadiz car j'aime vraiment cette petite ville mais bon le monde m'attend je dois finir mon voyage...mais je reviendrai en octobre...je saute donc ds un bus pour Malaga 4hrs de trajet ...voyons voir ce qu'a l'air la ville de Picasso!!

... we met gave us as many drinks we wanted - that was crazy!! Later on we went to a club downtown - dancing the night away until 7 a.m - lucky we could chill on saturday!! Saturday the real Feria started: First we went to the city to see what was going on - many pretty Andalucian señoritas dancing to Flamenco music in their gorgeous dresses - men clapping their hand in the rythm - really enjoyable! Later at night we hit the real Feria outside the city ...
