    ... 40km hop to Villemagne in dull weather, ended when we reached the Weedons, in bright sunshine. Time to fill the cubes and for D to have a swim. And best of all, hot showers.
    Friday was lunch and supper with Simon and Suzie. We brought some wines from Aquitaine and a bottle of an orange liqueur called Perigord. So good food and fab company.
    Saturday again was warm and sunny and we went to the evening concert. Hmmm! More equipment ...

    ... a U-turn and headed back. Truly it is hard to describe the scenery in this part of the world, no amount of photos do it justice. And simply having a car and driving anywhere in this area was such a fabulous experience.

    Well the walk was mountainous (not surprisingly) and even a twisted ankle didn't dampen memories of crystal clear, dark blue lakes set in a backdrop of rugged mountains.

    Our hosts took took us to their favourite restaurant for lunch. Chris being Dutch, we went dutch and had a good meal of mushroom and slow egg, veal with fresh pasta, and cocoa iced parfait with a very good 2011 Domaine Lapeyre madiran. Packing filled the evening and then the movie 'Ghost Writer' on TV. We drive up to the Dordogne district ...

    ... 50 litres of water. We will only stay the one night. But it gave us the opportunity to go to the 'Donjon des Aigles' - the dungeon of Eagles. Wonderful specimens of owls, raptors and some delightful parrots. A wonderful display, with the sky full of mixed birds at the same time. And it went on for an hour. A great experience. And the views from the top of the ruined castle were stunning.

    ... on legs that didn’t have any power or energy. Fortunately, I picked up three other guys from the UK and we worked together very efficiently to finish the last 10Km.
