Why Did We Come Here Again?

... night Blazing Saddles in our hotel room, a rare luxury for us cheapos.<br><br>The following day we headed out to explore Cochabamba. I had been here several times before, but it was always after a month or more in the jungle and I was generally more concerned with cleaning myself up and enjoying a bar than doing anything touristy, but this time we were here as tourists and we wanted to head up to Cochabamba´s prime attraction, the giant ...

Volunteering Sagas Part 2

... goodness for facebook...), but i was about ready to be on the move again, new places new faces and all that. So what better way to spend my last night in Cochabamba than by packing my things, heading out to a party and then a night on the town, and realising that at 6am there really is no point going to bed at all when you need to be at the bus station by 8am. Good times i must say, But goodbyes were to be had, despite how much i hate them!!

Things to do and see in and around Cochabamba

... Sonia also took us to see Santa Teressa - a former 16th century convent which admitted high-society nuns each of whom was accompanied by a servant nun. There are still 9 nuns remaining aged between 28 and 87 years although the current rules are markedly less strict. They used to not be allowed out and were only allowed 1 hour visiting time a month with family members behind a metal grill and a black curtain so that they ...

Volunteering Sagas...

... which leaves only one other option.....), and well lets just say they also were not incredibly busy, and i did not really feel of use to anyone. And so two days was enough for me. However, this week the tide has turned, timing and i are a bit better friends, and we were again able to attempt a tour of the hospital (successfully this time i might add). And we get to the adults ward, where i was planning on being, and we are informed there is a ...

Continuation...

... t really bother me at the time. But unfortunately, I'm completely and utterly bored. I'm in a prívate clinic, something else which should have been specified before I came. There are very few patients and a LOT of doctors, residents, and interns. Not only do I feel useless because I know nothing (normal) but half of the residents and interns look useless as we sit in the intern room at least half of the day! It gives me time to follow my Geneva clases, but it's tiring, day in ...

A week off!

... last bus to Uyuni. A little bit of background info: the whole month of february in Bolivia is "Carnaval". A month of partying, throwing water balloons, and parades. On february 21st is the main parade. Of which the biggest is in Oruro (7km parade which lasts from 6am saturday til about 6am sunday!). It is the 2nd biggest parade in South America after Rio (main difference is the women have a few more clothes on). The whole country is on holiday from saturday until the next ...

Cochabamba

Plutselig ...

Leaving the Orphanage

... cant quite get their words out), I really got to know them: which ones liked to play rougher than others, the exact strength that they prefer to be swung at on the swings, how to react when their toy is stolen etc. The food at the orphanage was universally bland and always contained exactly 1 potato and either rice or pasta, which is the bolivian way. Some of it looked pretty dodgy, with suspect meat or uncooked veg, but i managed to eat every meal with ...

Quick visit in Cochabamba

... were constantly throwing up in bags. <br><br>I didn't really have any set tourist destinations there, just stopping by for a quick visit, as I knew a couple of guys there. There lives the brother of my jungle-friend Einar, and a Chilean friend of his brother's. <br><br>They showed me around a bit - we went to El Prado boulevard, and to the statue of Christ - "Cristo de la Concordia" - measuring a meter for each year in Jesus' life. Both the Cristo ...
