Another day, another mode. Today we went by Eurotunnel to Calais. This has got worse since our list trip with long queues to go through French and British border control. ... Spectacular. The next day hopped on our bikes to explore more of the city and were surprised to see it almost empty - it was Sunday and just about everything was closed. We had the place more or less had it to ourselves which was fantastic.

This is where Joan (Jean) of Arc was burnt at the stake. We visited her prison and the beautiful cathedral now erected on the site of her death. This cathedral ...

... which is covered in flowers. Occasionally a large shadow flits across the road and it is a low flying Stork, as there is a sanctuary next door. One lands on the other side of the road to visit the campers who are lying on loungers and does not seem to be bothered by humans. After lunch we carry out some admin, as the floor of the van can get quite dirty quickly. Then it's a walk into town which is very old and virtually every other house is a winery. Some one was quoted in ...
