... we were inside. Since we had left later than expected, we only had about an hour and a half to get through the chateau. It was absolutely beautiful. I'm gonna say that this is the chateau of the Renaissance, because Francois I and some other Kings of the 1500s lived there during the period. Apparently Francois I had a great love for Italian architecture of the day, and brought in a lot of the Italian-inspired design to ...
Fontainebleau, Île-de-France, France liz.swindTuesday's are still the best day of the week although the weekends are looking better and better as our trip to London approaches as well as Fall Break!! Maincy, Île-de-France, France t.rosile... a vehicle for the duration of your stay abroad. Ferries/Eurotunnel offer competitive alternatives when the true costs of flying are taken into account. Time: while no-one would argue with the fact that the flight time itself is minimal, you must factor in how long it takes you to get from your front door to the airport ...
France, France travel_bug_cole... natural light plays an important part in the exceptional transformation. Salute the architects, and then head for the galleries. You may linger a few minutes before entry. I did. I started on the ground floor in the central aisle. Enjoyed the traditional sculpture. then headed for some well-known names, Corot, Courbet, Daumier, Degas and Delacroix. You cannot see it all, so you have to be selective. And again I was. Then it was up to the second level. Here it was an ...
Paris, France kaowinston... car they had rented for the month and took us to a townhouse in Nemours. The next 7 days were spent rock climbing in the forests of Fontainebleau through the day and indulging on food and wine at night. Kate even took up climbing and by the end of it was looking like a pro (sorta)! It truely was awesome and I can't thank our hosts (Rich, Brett and Jimbo) enough for having us! My only disappointment was that we didn't make it to Disneyland in the ...
Fontainebleau, France clintosSO everyone has to be that dorky tourist with their camera always out taking pictures of the same monuments that you have only seen in pictures(and now you are taking your own picture, ironic) and I did not hesitate to embrace this role. That's right, I did it, I rode in the top of a double decker bus around Paris and ablsolutely loved it, even the fact that i kept accidentally pulling my headphones out of their handy dandy ...
Paris, France curtains21... wanted to have a look. On the way we got to see the Eiffel Tower lit up. Once every hour it lights up and that is a very impressive sight indeed. Next we headed down the Des Champs Elysee, a street know for its shopping and class. After that we headed to the roundabout below the arc de triomphe. That was one scary experience. Just to give you an idea of how scary this roundabout is, an accident happens every 7 minutes on there. Also you are not insured ...
Paris, France sanderson256... it. After school, you will be a slave to the world for the rest of your life. Live it now while you still can. You are a wonderful sister, you are my baby. You remember when I saved your life in the YMCA pool as a kid? I don't ever want to loose you or Tina, hold on for as long as you can, okay? I love you. All mushiness aside, I wanted to announce that I went to church today for the first time since in Paris at the American ...
Paris, France nessamilan... for the duration of a flight. This means they want everyone else to stay awake too!!! So when I reached Amsterdam my body didn't know if it should be tired or awake - it chose the awake and wired option. I reached Amsterdam at 8am qnd my connecting flight wasn't leaving until 3pm so I decided to travel into the city for the day. It took me 35 minutes to walk from one end of the airport to the other end - which became, in fact, the train station! Knowing absolutely no ...
Fontainebleau, France chechI have visited Paris at least three times that I can remember, the first time on my first trip to Europe and another time on an excursion during my year studying in The Netherlands in 1981-82 and at least one other time during travels around Europe. And what can I say about Paris? Probably the most beautiful big city in the world.
