... from a section in the desert mountains where the colours where incredible and the last bit along the coast the journey was unremarkable. Apart from that we are back in the saddle after 8 day break the longest in 6 months. It is wonderful just to be moving. Copiapo is not like I remember it in 2009 it's much more developed,we stay in a small hotel and wander to the square for a Bavarian dinner of pork and ...

We then had a ...

... though the southern scenery seemed pretty desertified as it was!

After arriving in Copiapó on Friday afternoon we wandered around the small city with our packs checking out a few hotels, most of which were too expensive. We finally settled on a residencial that only cost half our daily budget per night, but for that we got a double room with TV and a private bathroom, albeit the whole room was ...

... for $140 soles, all inclusive. We then tried to have something to eat as all we’d had was a horrible sandwich given to us on the bus. We didn’t have much luck here as we tried to get a ham and cheese sandwich or anything that wasn't the ‘menu’ like what we’d previously experienced in Puno (soup with floating things followed by a set meal). A very determined lady got us into her café and we had a sandwich con queso - nowhere has ...
