Atlas vs Chivas

... went mad as the Chivas fans revelled in getting one up on their adversaries so early on. Then, barely a minute later Chivas had scored again with their second attack of the game. It was the fastest two goals I had seen since... well, since Arsenal scored twice in 11 seconds against us last week.

This quick pace was maintained throughout the entire first half; Atlas pulled one back after about 10 minutes, before ...

The Streets: Art

... in the next blog post, once I collect all the fantastic picture people took last weekend.
Meanwhile, I´m going to share an aspect of Guadalajara that I´m particularly enamoured with: street life. Unlike back home, streets here are more than just a conveyance from one place to another. They house a vibrant informal economy, peddlers of everything from windshield wipers, 30 ...

Night Life

... second I was about to grasp it. Looking down I was confronted by the biggest insect I have ever seen in my life! At first I had no idea what it was, but my American friends recognised it as a Praying Mantis from its distinctive posture. It had a fearsome leap but eventually we managed to trap the beast in a glass and release it into the shrubs outside.

I could sleep easy again. Getting the hell out of dodge

... gone, we took a stroll around the bay to the far side where there was a stronger breeze and found a nice little restaurant. With the lights of La Paz in the distance, the moon high over the town and the quiet lapping of the water against the pier we ate a lovely little starter of Tostada (large nachos) covered in chopped chorizo, soured cream, goats cheese and the most exquisite salsa. Followed by a lush filet of Sole. Quality food. We could get very used to this.....

My Dream of going to Mexico is finally realised

... there.
As they were living in Guadalajara they knew what was going on so we all hopped in one of their cars and took off to a party. On the way we listened to the Clockwork Orange Soundtrack. The party was a squat party, who would have thought? In an abandoned back packers hostel some hard partiers had set up decks, lights and a bar for a one off party. The party was awesome and I would have loved to stay but the blokes I was with wanted to go pick up some ...

Heading to La Paz!!!

Tuesday 4/7 - Goodbye to the Iguana Inn...sigh. Enjoyed some beautiful sights of the Sea of Cortez as well interesting countryside views as we continued south. Re-heated last night's quesadillas on the dashboard - HOT! Julie recommended that we stop at a unique art shop south of Constitucion and we found it. Met Manuel, an artisan of unusual wood and leather creations. His store ...

La Paz, Day 9

... office and main lobby located right at the entry gate. There's computer use/internet access in the office for a small fee, or you can bring your own laptop and use their cable connection for free. Internet service was spotty at times, but I wasn't able to tell if it was a service issue or an infrastructure problem. Either way, it could be a little frustrating. There were a few times where there was a waiting line to use the internet ...
