... Bob. We ordered the Pesto Trebutte ( or something along those lines ) and it was beautiful. As normal Tim and QI shared and I have to say that I probably ate more than my share. The pesto was fantastic and we also had some potatoe thru out the spaghetti. A great dish. As you can imagine being at the same table with David S a lot of the conversation was on movies . Tim and I excused ourselves slightly early and we made our way back to the centre of town where I took some ...

The Grand Hotel Savoia is a great hotel. We’ve been lucky enough to stay in some of the great hotels of the world - the Taj in Bombay, the Cecil in Alexandria and the Winter Palace in Luxor and this hotel is right up there with them. It’s not super luxe or super chic — it’s just grand in the old fashioned way. Grand like you’d just want to stay in your room all day and read a novel and then descend ...

Undaunted we initiated Plan B, a trip to the largest Aquarium ...

... cold drink until it opened. In fairness to Fodors (although we also got caught by a restaurant that they rate as $, which was more like $$ or $$$), other tourists were just as frustrated as us. I think this is a living example of the trouble the Italian economy is in. Like in Parma, where the museum had limited galleries open due to lack of staff, we think the museums etc. here are cutting back their hours. Finding ...

... as a port. The port is still very busy with commercial traffic and cruise ships. Genoa is an interesting cIty to walk. The main streets and piazzas are quite charming with many high end stores. But many of the cross streets and alleys are down-right scary looking. We stuck to the well- travelled routes. As with the other cities we have visited, there are lots of young men, apparently unemployed, hanging about and lots of tattooed bodies both male and ...
