Up at 6.30 to leave at 7 (ok, 7.10) for Dover.

Uneventful drive in the rain through Peckham and other special parts of south London – doors firmly locked and alert for any hint of a car-jacking.

Ushered onto the ferry straight away and up to the (VIP) lounge for coffee and papers.

... to stop when you want one. So we walked. I am quite amazed at what I have been able to do and want to declare my broken ankle of last year officially over. Although it swells a bit, it is standing up to long walking, most of it on cobblestones! My training walking back home in Bittern has paid off and my fitness is improving each day.

... gloves, it is a challenge to access the bag, backpack or camera in a hurry! In addition, we are wearing the same clothes in all the photos, no matter what we wear underneath because we are always rugged up. The French pretty well all wear black chic coats and the children are bundled up in parkas and gloves, many with Christmas decorations or Santa hats. Their associations with Christmas are a long way from heat, holidays and beaches!
I will have to change my writing habits now ...

... br> Today involved a dummy run to the station at Loches, where we will catch the first of two trains to get to Paris, departing at 7:20 am tomorrow. ... outside, we decided to pay the local agricultural college a visit. St Cyran Lycee Agricole Prive. So many horses. The lady in admin was more than happy for us to wander about taking photos and without a thought of asking for ID or a visitor's pass. While the kids do regular academic lessons, horse riding appears to be well and truly the main focus.
