... unfinished houses being lived in!
Back to the trulli houses - one was only 14 square meters in total and with a family of seven living in it - 3 slept upstairs, 4 down stairs, the kitchen was the size of a closet and toilet outside. The walls are white washed limestone and the roof is like a grey slate stone stacked into a cone shape. Some have painted Christian symbols on the roofs which is recent addition this century, and clay pots which I'm not sure why. As ...

... different combinations with Bruce, still no go. Pulled into the town the Hotel was supposed to be in and tried to ask directions from a lady in a Cafe, it went like this. "Do you speak English?" "No." "Can I show you an address." "No." She Looked quickly at address, gesticulated pointed up the road and said "Policia." So I left. ... and easily found the main centre Piazza. This was pretty with church and statue of San Oronzo dominating the square. Apparently, he is the town protector. Then we proceeded to get lost. Craig is usually excellent but the map was **** and when we ended up in the residential area (full of all white houses), most of them had no idea how to direct us (??? No comment). We eventually made it back to the square and had a drink and then found the Via del Cattedrale – lovely ...

... permitted. In fact it turned out to be free!!! Eventually we had a nice lunch at a Michelin listed restaurant called Trullo D’Oro. Nice ravioli and veal escallops. Yes we are trying to cut down. Another highlight was face timing Olivia as everyone was at Matthew’s place for Nana’s birthday. Wish we could also be there. Lovely during day but it is cooling down again now.
Alberobello really feels like a fairy tale town or Smurf ...
