... to the iconic Iamsterdam sign to take pictures and went to the Rijks and Van Gogh museum. Didn't really go inside them but I wandered around the public parts of the Rijks and made it into the gift shop. Currently eating dinner before we head onto the night train to Munich! Also now have a grand total of three dutch words in my vocabulary bank. None of us speak the language and somehow we survived. Amsterdam definitely lived up to what I had imagined. Just ...

Good evening, Yesterday evening I arrived in Bordeaux on the train from Paris. I was expecting quaint wine town, but was disappointed to find sketchy, drunken college town. A place I felt the need to clutch my bag tighter and try not to make eye contact with anyone. I dropped my stuff at the hostel then went out again towards the direction of the main street. Again, not a place I would have any interest in exploring or getting to know any better. ...

It was doing to be a hot weekend so we headed out to the coast and checked into a campsite. Electric hook up and unlimited wifi seems like luxury. Arcachon turned out to be an upmarket holiday resort with chic town, massive villas and beautiful beaches. Plenty of cycling and swimming in the ...

We woke to torrential rain. In fact much of the night was torrential rain so it was no surprise we were next to a very large puddle. After breakfast in the camp common room we were sent to Bages , a tiny village where, to our amazement, there was a bike shop with the right size tyre and inner tube for P&Ps tandem - phew! Then onwards for a day crossing the Medoc. The highlight ...

A slightly early start this morning - misreading of watch with backlighting got us up by 6.30! Impressive or what! 8.20 kick off and we shopping in Bordeaux by 10. Bouliac has an impressive shopping centre for all our food shopping requirements, a bike shop for Pat and Pam's overshoes, and a coffee brew up next to the shopping centre car park! We had a smooth journey through Bordeaux before lunching by a lake whilst the tents dried. ...
