... Ein Arbeitskollege (vom Cha Chá), der in der Schweiz lebt, aber in Mar del Plata geboren und aufgewachsen ist, hat darauf bestanden, dass ich seine Heimatstadt besuche. Jedenfalls hat mir eines Tages seine Schwester, die in Mardel lebt, eine Email geschrieben und mich eingeladen, die Küstenstadt kennenzulernen. Dies hat mich sehr gefreut und überrascht und ich nutze diese Chance :-)

The sea side town of Mar del Plata
... is a large populations of sea lions in Mar del Plata so we wanted to see them. We were a little unlucky with the sea lions though it was a nice walk especially when you walked all the way to the end of the break wall and looked back to the beach with all the nice houses and apartment blocks perched up on the hill behind.
The girls had to leave us after the walk. We said our goodbyes and then made our way down to the other side of the bay to walk on the adjacent break wall ...

So after Buenos Aires, I stayed in Mar del Plata with a couchsufer named Sergio. He is a psychology student and works with trouble youth in a really bad neighborhood. I had the opportunity to go with him one day.
The kids are into Morga. Which is a style of street drumming music based in the Buenos Aires area. They showed me some of their rhythms and their instructor played guitar as well, and knew BLUES!!!! So ...

... a nervous drive as there were a number of police along the way. Back in MDP, things were heating up for the Dakar rally and the opening ceremonies were in full swing. The entire waterfront road was lined with people watching the parade of vehicles - seriously high performance rally vehicles each a different design - some more like giant dune buggies with gullwing doors, others like SUVs and others more like trucks and all riotously ...
