... Second challenge was in checkin queue. The woman in front had 44kg of luggage and was trying not to pay for it. She had books out, stuff strewn everywhere, suitcase open, in an attempt to decrease weight. But woman behind counter was wise to her and got her to weigh her handbag. The negotiations continued. Saved by the woman on the next counter. And there is another side saga here. . . . ...

... festivals, with the 3 day Autumn Festival starting on the day we arrived. We went into the city centre for dinner on Saturday and the place was heaving with bands playing, people eating out everywhere, pop up bars and restaurants all through the main plaza's etc. The boys loved it, but not as much as the girls who had another late night out ending up in a dodgy nite club called Choco-Late. Pottered about the little town of Pella near to where we are staying. Sat on wooden bench on quayside scoffing a gelato each like oldies do apparently. Delightful. From there working our way back to the channel coast over 4-5 days. All fine and jalopy holding up so far - touch wood. Love to you all again. ...

... looking frescos dating back to the 1470's, and again you were respectfully asked not to photograph them, unless of course you were American. Then on to Orta again where we were yesterday and where today we could not resist the same restaurant with the mesmerising view. Forgot to mention dinner last night which was in a waterfront restaurant in Pella, a walk downhill of about 1.5 ...

The most beautiful so far! And we have a really nice apartment this time. Rather traumatic drive here though as it was our first fairly prolonged exposure on this holiday to the infamous autostrada system around Milan. Bit like midlands M6 on steroids. No really hairy moments but a few expletives involuntarily uttered by one of us (well me actually) and apologised for! Flipping toll ...
