Sydney and the Blue Mountains

So, we finally arrived in Sydney, and we're staying in a small YHA a few kilometres out from the city centre in Dulwich Hill. A few metres up the road, we had the option of all sorts of cheap restaurants and takeaways. We became fond of a Vietnamese restaurant, with nice food and wine, and the first night we ended up chatting to the owner, who turned out to have once been an officer the South Vietnamese army, who managed to get out with the American evacuation, but then spent 2 years in a tra...

Well we got up at 6am & left the house by 7am. We are getting use to showering & packing the car up within an hour.. After drive thru at Maccas we headed out to The Three sisters. We got there around 8:45am & it was 4 degrees outside. We froze our ***** off we got in & out of there quite quickly. We did get a nice photo of us three girls with the three sisters but Renee went on a deleting frenzy & accidentally deleted them. But its okay the three sisters ...

... war but now we do! We wont go into that but it's definitely worth going to see. At the memorial there is also a really good museum which covers the history of the Australian army with lots of interactive elements, full size planes and submarines. They also have a large collection of medals with a list of all the men who have received the Victoria cross. After soaking in all that information we were ready for a soak ourselves and had a jacuzzi, not often we get to ...

Its cold!!

After a late start (John is getting used to this sleeping in thing) we headed to the institute of sport for a tour of the facility. Was very interesting. Then we rugged up and headed to the Raiders vs Bulldogs game (for the record the bulldogs won) but the game was really good and the fans were funny (particularly the bulldogs fans). Sitting in the kombi ...

... is just as well as that's when it started ******* rain, so perfect timing. Update: 10th Oct - To add insult to injury the Hyatt posted me a receipt to say they took the bogus mini bar charge off my credit card anyway! Called them, no duty manager available (surprising?) and spoke with someone who even agreed there was no item at exactly that rate available in the mini bar and that they'd reverse it pronto. 14th Still not reversed, so have sent a stinker of a letter now, the ...

Not this time for me, we don't have enough of the readies for me to buy anything from where I spen(t my day! I took myself off to the National Gallery of Australia and was in the same room as Vassily Kandinski, Toulouse Lautrec and Pablo Picasso. Unfortunately I couldn't find ...

... travel as a couple, but critical to my happiness and to keeping our adventure fresh and positive - i have to pay attention to what i want and what is going to make me feel good and healthy and happy, and productive and useful. In a place like Byron bay, with all these choices, i am faced with the questions i'm always so good at avoiding - what do i really want to do? my usual answers are...um, i guess workout, something artistic, but i don't really know what ...

... up goin to the pub after the hostel then a strip club which was, erm, interesting. I think we got back to the flat at 4.30 then went to sleep around 5.30 and woke up still ****** to get the train. The 2 hour train trip was amusing - theres a place at the end of the line called zigzag kept me laughing for a good 5 minutes. Anyway it was not the best time to go as a terrential downpour lasted all day. We got to the hostel which was very nice, dumped our stuff then had to ...

... is built for academics. Canberra is the city for politics. So it is very natural that both cities should not be amusing to tourists like me. Australian Institute of Sports looked good at first, but it was not good. That may be because I had expected too much. There was a merry-go- round in the square near the hostel, which may be set to make the city merrier.
