... along the boardwalk and scouted two potential dining spots. I will not bore you with more food pics; suffice it to say the meal was good - not exceptional. The setting was great along the Rhine in an old family run Gasthof Adler.

Tomorrow will be an easy drive back to Dan and Andrea's place - something under three hours.
Hope everyone is having a good Remembrance Day remembering what it was all about those many years ago!!

... for a table and having two beers and leaving for the next pub. Home at 10:30 or the ship leaves!! We had our friends Carol and Rob in our group so that made it fun. It was so loud everywhere we couldn't hear the guide. All the locals were so young and we looked like a group of fish out of water...or beer, as it were...We should have gone back to Papa Joe's and just listened to the fake musicians and soccer fans! ...

Early this morning, about 4.30, we sailed passed Frankfurt and onto Cologne, berthing at about 1pm. We opted for the city walking tour which was about 1.5 hour duration. We learnt about the history of Cologne, or Koln as it is called in Germany. With a population of 1 million, it's the 4th biggest city in Germany (behind Berlin, Hamberg, Munich). The Romans established a settlement at this location on the Rhine about 2000 years ago and it has has continuous settlement ever ...

... us for a drive along the Rhine. It may have been a little rainy but it was awesome. As we toured they filled us in on the history and events. Much of which dealt with the wars and was very enlightening. We saw an area of the Rhine where the Germans destroyed all the bridges so the allied troops couldn't cross. One now stands as a peace museum to all the troops. They took us to see the old Dutch buildings and castle remnants in towns like Linz. That night we met some of Herbert ...
