... are stretches and squares of little stalls, decorated to look like rustic cabins and surrounded by fresh evergreens. They sell all matter of wonderful Christmas treats: chocolates, cookies, cheese, ornaments, candles, wooden sculpture, every manner of food, and of course, gluhwein. Gluhwein is the most famous food item of the season. It's a spiced and heated wine that is served in cute ceramic mugs. It takes some getting used to, but I'm really starting to ...
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany jluetkehansEine Woche in Leverkusen beim Biltroller Meeting. Was sind Biltroller? Buchhalter i.w.S. (((-: Allerdings ging's ...
Leverkusen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany heiko... So viel ist schon passiert, so wenig habe ich bisher erlebt. Neue Freunde, eine 2te Familie und ein ganz anderes Leben erwarten mich hier. New York, meine neue Liebe!
Jetzt, mit mehr Zeit und Muse widme ich mich dem langersehnten Lebenszeichen. :)
Viel Spaß beim lesen!
... but I assure you it is the most famous brewery in Germany, possibly in the world). There we had the good fortune to sit next to a Stammtisch, a special table reserved every Friday night by special Hofbrauhaus members. These men, largely older, are fully decked out in traditional lederhosen, jackets, and wonderful felt hats full of feathers, pins, and fur. They drink from special ceramic mugs, emblazoned with the Hofbrauhaus logo. On discussion ...
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany jluetkehans... we will do it in Italy or one of the many other countries that holds up this tradition!
Well that was enough walking for us so we found a tiny restaurant outsid3e of the city center and got a nice meal. Germany isn’t cheap but they serve you enough for 3 and boy is it delicious! I’m still not sick of Schnitzel! That was enough sightseeing for us so we made our way back to the car and called it a night. Nothing like a nice day to freshen up the spirit!
... on after doing a bit of shopping to Freiburg. As the gateway to the black forest, we caught a train through to a town called Titisee and did a quick hike in the nearby hills. The black forest turns out to be quite large and we didn't have much time so after our day trip we had to keep going, leaving most of the hikes and black forest towns behind us. We caught a train that followed the Rhine up to Cologne, a lively town that was mostly destroyed in the war ...
Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany steveandwhitney... and Amsterdam in Netherlands. Philip and Lawrence both took their cars over for the tour, with highlight of the Nürbergring racetrack. As they say, what happens on tour stays on tour, but we had a brilliant time. Here's a few pictures and video's from the Germany part of the trip, courtesy of Elias, who had the commonsense to bring a camera.
Bonn, Germany tobigoThe creation of this blog is inspired by Amit , who has one of the most entertaining and creative blogs I've seen (note my restricted experience with blogs though...). He is in close competition with Ryan , whose blog has made me laugh many a time! =) So, I arrived to the lovely German city of Bonn just over three weeks ago - had a great reception (which by no means was intended ...
Bonn, Germany denaida... with me, then a month after that I took off. Maybe Ward was on the same wavelength. Ward and I had dinner together twice having great conversations. The second night I ordered venison and he had a heaping pile of steamed frogs legs. You have to respect someone who can clean those many river tasting bones. We exchanged email addresses and since then have kept in touch with randomly sent notes talking about where we were and what we were doing. Over the years we had ...
