... I was hammering on that thing. I don't know why I've been naming these cars. I've never named any of the seven I've owned. After some anxious moments in traffic, speeding and other aggressive behavior, I made it back to the car rental office at 12:05 pm. I caught a Shinkansen to Tokyo Station. ... look very nice for the few minutes that was clear.
We checked in at the hotel which is a traditional Japanese hotel with mats and no shoes in the room. It has it's own hot spring in the basement. We went for a nice soak. The hot spring pools are segregated and no clothes are allowed.
Dinner was traditional Japanese banquet called Kaiseki. It was more of an art display than a meal. Six courses later, we were full. Sake was great. ...

Hakone-Yumoto is a quaint and busy little village, difficult to find a parking spot. It's a short walk ...

Of course all Toto washlets and special restrooms for the kids. Before entering the restroom area there is an electronic panel on the wall indicating which restrooms are vacant and which ones are occupied. How fancy can it get?! We enjoy a cool drink out on a small patio ...

In the morning we took the Yamanote Line to Tokyo Station where we transfer to the Shinkansen to Odawara. A 30 min trip with a couple of stops along the way. Before noon we arrive at Odawara where we had booked another Subaru Imprezza with Nippon Rental Car. The rental office is located just outside of the station. We had made a reservation for two nights at the Hyatt in Gora, about a 30 min drive. We had a hard time deciding where to stay in the Hakone ...
