... of course) so I popped into H&M to buy a woolly hat, had franfurters for lunch and then climbed the 343 steps to the top of the tower of St. Stephan's cathedral.
You can tell the weather is bad by the simple fact that I have time to sit in an internet cafe updating this blog. If the weather is good, I´ll be out walking, whether it´s exploring the back streets of a city or hiking up a hill for the view. I think it´s time for cafe und kuchen.
Ciao.
... the gardens. It was a little cooler but still humid. TGI Friday’s for dinner including Barnumint Baileys Cocktails(Baileys, Peppermint liquor, Oreo, and vanilla icecream) . We thought it would rain on the way back but the thunderstorm didn’t come until later that night.
Vienna, Vienna, Austria matt_and_ames... about respecting dead or something. I then checked out a Belvedere palace's massive garden & building (from the outside). The botanic gardens was near here, so I went over to have a look as I normally enjoy botanic gardens. This one was quite boring - the plants were arranged in gridded flower beds by plant family and more disappointingly as a nerd, this should excite me. But for some reason it didn't... To reclaim my nerd status, I did manage to have a ...
Vienna, Austria fionapurcellHere are some of the differences (both big and small) between Europe and Canada that Sunny and I came up with while we had hot chocolate to get away from the cold, aside from the obvious ones like cars on different sides of road (england) and languages, etc. 1) Cigarette smoke and smokers are everywhere. EVERY......WHERE! Sunny almost cried tears of joy when we arrived in Munich to find that it was a smoke-free station. I cannot believe how ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria ibeep... experience, which was good, cause it had to make up for the less than par walking tour I did, Not all bad got some good info but not really worth the price and was too short. But one amazing thing about Vienna is the buildings there oh my lord, huge daunting when you walk up on them. Those Hapsburg's they really knew how to build these imaculate buildings, the palace is just huge, the gardens lavish with trees and flowers of ...
Vienna, Vienna, Austria indigosb... the cathedral in the very centre of Vienna's first district. We live in the 20th district, which is about 30 mins travel from camp if all the connections time right, and 20 mins from central Vienna, we have month long tickets which work on all public transport in Vienna so the world really is our oyster. I haven't had a cooked meal in 4 days and am in danger of turning into a salad at this rate, so I am off for tea and wine with some girls from camp. Much love xx
Vienna, Austria eskimosarah- The D tram is a very cool, warm, and cheap way to get a little tour of the city. It leaves from Sudbanhol (south train station) and goes through and around the city center, up to Nuborf (north station) and then back to the south station in about 1 hour 10 minutes. Just before the north station, be sure to look to your left for the trendiest, most artistic city dump you've ever seen! - Most of the touristy sites are located in the 1st ...
Vienna, Austria bpadnuk... humming along to "I'll cover you" (quite possibly the most heartbreakingly sweet song EVER) when my eyes met...someone else's. he smiled, i smiled, and it being a crowded airport, and therefore relatively safe, we struck up a conversation. His name was Lubor and he was 28, and he had very pretty eyes. Well, of course comes the announcement over the intercom...our flight was delayed, and it would take at least an hour for a plane to come. Lubor went up to the desk and ...
Wien, Austria germania731... Once we got to the hostel (the Blue Corridor) we dropped off our stuff and then headed out to explore. We walked around the Hofburg Palace, the musuems, city hall, and basically within the bounds of the map that the hostel had given us. We then headed back to the hostel (which also doubles as a bar) early enough to make sure that we passed out before the music started blasting. The next day we actually went in all the ...
Vienna, Austria mere7... before I had to use the itty-bitty lavatory for a second time, we were on terra firma. We waited in line at customs for about 15 minutes, and after expecting an interrogation process and a strip-search, all we had to do was show a customs worker our passport, to which they said "Danke, auf weidershen" (sp.). The shuttle busses (or "meat wagons") were waiting for us outside of the airport. I boarded the last one with mostly European Study kids. There was one girl ...
