      The region is very much a farming area with kilometer after
      kilometer of intense agriculture. Some of the crops we saw being grown here are
      potatoes, lettuce, grapes, maize, carrots, strawberries, beans, apples, pears,
      onions and turnips. The land is flat and the soils are very nice and all under
      irrigation.

      The little village of Wangen is very close to the Swiss border, only about 5 Km from where we are staying. Because of the snake-like form of the border, it is sometimes easier to get to German destinations by crossing and re-entering over the Swiss border. The only trick is to stay off the Swiss Autobahn, unless you have paid your annual permit to the Swiss government.       ... through it, as it seemed kind of cool. All of a sudden we are hit by this god awful smell, something of a hybrid between vomit and dog poo. We check our shoes...nothing there...then i look down at my pants
      and there is some kind of slimy spots scattered over me. 'Could this be bird poo?'. Getting the train was rather embarrassing, and i was not happy about the situation, even though Dan thought it was hilarious!
