... Interlaken and saw the early rays catching the very tops. The track in it's upper reaches stops at the Eigerwand, a viewing platform about halfway up the Eiger rock face and you can look down 3000ft to the scree at the bottom. The train terminates at the tourist complex at the top (Jungfraujoch) and there are viewing platforms etc. When we arrived about 8:50am there was no view and ...

... after ten minutes. The normal 1hr 40min trip took three hours. And as luck would have it, it started raining five minutes before reaching the apartment. No I was not drinking on the train, but this rain was the weirdest I have ever encountered. The drops were very heavy but did not appear to be right next to each other. It was like squares ...

... so it was back to the station. I went to the Western Union office (which was combined with an SBB rail office) and took another number and waited in line. It seems a bit odd that they wouldn’t have change machines near the ticket machines, and it was a darn nuisance to have to go back to the station and stand in a queue just to get change.

At this point, I took a few minutes to “scope out” the location of Gleis (track) 7, which is where ...
