Sun (Aug 9) - The town of Thun is just south of Bern and has a history going back 4000 to 5000 years into the Bronze Age. Thun has a relatively new castle watching over the city which was built in 1190. The castle walls, technically called 'curtain walls,' are 14 feet thick and have several layers to help withstand bombardment. The nicest, most expensive rock was used in the wall near the castle's entrance for the best appearance. Through the town of Thun flows the river Aare. The ...

Some of the group got some very deep notes--some just huffed and puffed, to no avail. It was fun and funny! To our delight a Visit ...

... called Jungfrau. Apparently incredible views of the mountains & Europes longest/largest glacier 'Aletsch', snow & ice all year round. It's very expensive to get to the top 180 franc & with the bad weather not clearing enough for the two days we are in Switzerland it would be a waste of money & we are advised to skip it. On our return to Lauterbrunnen we wander through a few shops & purchase some Swiss chocolate from the supermarket. Our busabout ...

... Swiss people are rather reserved so the request is probably unusual.

(Ha - we're tourists - good excuse. But then again T speaks Swiss-German... and without an accent...)

Wandered about and took in festivities.

    That paper confetti was everywhere!

Old Town was busy as were the shops.

Looked in some shops and the Migros (grocery, toiletries).

    Found a ...
