... a 10 miles long tunnel that cuts into the mountains. FUN FACT: The Swiss have hollowed out many parts of the surrounding mountains to serve as fallout shelters in case of nuclear wars or attacks. They even have fully functional hospitals inside and the army have complete bases prepared inside.

... the top of Mt. Pilates was spectacular and made the whole morning worth it. We were practically in the Alps and snow lined the mountain tops. We rode the steepest cog train in Europe down the other side of the mountain and then took a boat ride through the lake to reach Lucerne. We ended our day with a row on the famous lake Rotsee, the location on the rowing World Cup. It's a beautiful venue with crystal clear water. A great day overall! Tomorrow we head to ...

I ventured outside about 18:30 to get some dinner and settled on Burger King again as it’s only a few steps from the Hotel and I knew it would be cheaper than a “sit down” dinner (which I wasn’t in the mood for anyway). ... to the Thames in London and the Seine in Paris, so there are no barges and ships running up from Zürichsee, the lake. One last guess is that the watershed is the Swiss Alps (I think). It all collects into Zürichsee with little civilization along the way. Then it hits Zürich nice and clean, and continues north into Germany where it hits many large towns and cities. I wonder what the water quality is like up there. Moving on...
