... great for the first 30kms (had to change to this measurement cos that's what the signs were in) but we soon joined the queue to get through the infamous Gotthard tunnel about 10kms (we did try an alternative route but the Swiss Polizei and their little knives said nein or non but not no in English before sending back onto the car park called the A2 - it eventually took almost 4 hrs to do the 10kms through ...

... the tracks in part. Made it to the top to find ourselves in a title whiteout. Didn't stop the intrepid aussies from going out in it to throw snow balls at each other. Some even went so far as to lie down in it. Only ventured upside for a photo and by then it was sleeting and blowing a gale. God time or a warming hot chocolate. Had to take a cable car down with about 30 stuck standing as we descended. Changed half way down to four person closed cars for the really steep part. ...

... the barista knows little-to-no English. After quickly wi-fi'ing basic German phrases, I was actually able to speak enough German to ask for directions and an explanation of the metro system. ... travel and Jeff and I enjoyed sitting for a while, knowing they were happy. I also enjoyed watching the Swiss mothers cook sausages on fires for their hungry children - a very Swiss thing, I'm told. I'd have no hope, since fire lighting is definitely not a skill I have.
