... always takes a bit of time to get into the swing of things and adjust when you are in a new place. For us, add the complication of kids and all that they come with (strollers, ipods, various shoes = (this is a function of them being girls who have a mama who happens to like high heels…)), and it can make getting out the door a little complicated.

The train in Lungern is exactly15.20 minutes walk away - around a lake ...

... Oberalppass a couple of days ago, we were all cocky and full of confidence for the first leg of the Rhone route. This first leg involves an ascent up Furkapass - a 1000m gain in altitude over 13km. We did well on that 400m ascent the other day - what could possibly go wrong? So we decided to aim for Brig - 87km away. But it wasn't long before reality set in. My muscles were tired and slow to warm up. Within an hour of leaving this morning (9km in - it ...

... are quite big given the size of the town and Lachy enjoyed crossing the tracks to get to the other platform. In the cable car, we rose quickly into the mist and arrived at the top to what would be an amazing view if it was a clear day. It was great anyway as we were about to walk to Murren in the Swiss Alps. How good is that? There is train also but we wanted to explore on foot. We began the walk and couldn’t see too far ahead but it was fun watching what unfolded ...

... decided to head to the underground glacier falls by bus. It was cold and wet (luckily we had ponchos we us - it was being sold there for 12 francs! Woah.

The force of the water flowing was amazing. So strong and powerful. Apparently water from all 3 main mountains - Jungfrau, Monch and Eiger - passes through this falls. There were 10 glacier-waterfalls - and was the only glacier-waterfalls ...
