    ... a Minoan palace might have looked like . We visited the throne room , the women's quarters. After walking around the palace we stopped in Knossos for lunch. This really felt like a home cooked meal as Maria cooked the food ten feet from us in her oven and brought the salad to our table with the small glasses for wine.     ... at night, the air was filled not with the sounds of commerce and groups of tourists, but with the authentic cacophony of Greek locals sitting around outside, making conversation as the day draws down. Kids, too. Kids in Greece stay out late. Surprisingly late. The result of a dearth of electronics and limited cable/internet I'm sure.

    The couple next to me is now arguing about Santorini.
